Floods Kill 10 Across Bali, East Nusa Tenggara, Disrupt Transport
Severe flooding caused by continuous heavy rains has devastated Bali, Indonesia, killing at least six people and causing widespread evacuations and traffic disruptions. The floods particularly impacted Denpasar, Bali's capital, where two buildings collapsed, resulting in four deaths, while two more died in Jembrana Regency. Rescue efforts involve around 200 personnel working in chest-deep waters to assist stranded residents, with major roads gridlocked and access to the international airport near Denpasar severely restricted to trucks only. The Badung River overflowed, flooding homes to rooftop levels, and residents reported significant property damage and loss of belongings. Authorities have warned of continued heavy downpours and urged vigilance in low-lying and riverside areas. Additionally, similar flooding in East Nusa Tenggara caused four more fatalities, compounding the disaster's impact.
