Mets Sign A.J. Minter to Bolster Bullpen

The New York Mets have signed left-handed reliever A.J. Minter to a two-year, $22 million contract, with an opt-out option after the first year, to bolster their bullpen. Minter, who spent eight years with the Atlanta Braves, holds a career 3.28 ERA and is known for his effective pitching, especially in the postseason with a 2.88 ERA over 25 innings. Despite undergoing hip surgery that cut short his 2024 season, Minter is expected to be ready for spring training. The Mets' bullpen, which ranked 17th in ERA last season, will benefit from Minter's experience and skill, providing a crucial lefty presence alongside closer Edwin Díaz. His signing might affect the Mets' pursuit of other bullpen targets like Tanner Scott. This move marks the Mets' second free-agent acquisition in recent days, following their signing of outfielder Jesse Winker.
