The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has decided to lift its controversial ban on athletes displaying tattoos of the Olympic rings, ahead of the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. Previously, athletes faced disqualification for showing these tattoos, which were deemed a form of 'body advertising'. IPC's chief brand officer, Craig Spence, confirmed that athletes no longer need to cover such tattoos, although he did not provide an explanation for the policy change. This decision has been welcomed by athletes like Rudy Garcia-Tolson, who faced penalties in the past for displaying his tattoo. The upcoming Paralympics, scheduled to run from August 28 to September 8, will feature over 4,000 athletes competing in 22 sports. The change marks a significant shift in IPC policy, which had long been criticized for its strict regulation regarding tattoos.
