Tom Pidcock Withdraws from 2025 Tour de France

Tom Pidcock, the 25-year-old British cyclist, has announced that he will not participate in the 2025 Tour de France, instead aiming for a comeback in 2026. This decision comes after a challenging season with Ineos Grenadiers, where he faced setbacks including a COVID-19 diagnosis. Pidcock, who has won significant one-day races and two Olympic gold medals, has now signed with the Swiss-based Q36.5 team, which operates in cycling's second tier and relies on invitations to compete in Grand Tours. He expressed satisfaction with taking a break from the Tour, stating it would allow him to return with renewed energy. His immediate focus will be on one-day races, starting with the AlUla Tour in Saudi Arabia on January 28, 2025. Pidcock aims to prove himself on the road and strengthen his credentials for a successful Tour de France return in 2026.
