Former New York Governor David Paterson and his stepson, Anthony Sliwa, were assaulted by a group of five individuals on Manhattan's Upper East Side on Friday evening. The attack occurred around 8:30 p.m. following a verbal altercation with the suspects, who had a prior interaction with Sliwa. Both Paterson and Sliwa sustained minor injuries and were treated at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital before being released. The NYPD is actively searching for the suspects, who fled the scene, and has released surveillance footage to aid in their capture. Paterson has expressed gratitude for the police response and public support, while urging against using the incident for political gain. The former governor, who served from 2008 to 2010, is also focusing on personal interests such as the New York Mets' playoff games.
