Police Officer, Navy Sailor Face Child Sex Charges

U.S. Navy service member Bryce Lucas Stimka was indicted for multiple child sex crimes, including production and receipt of child pornography, after allegedly exchanging over 15,000 sexually explicit messages and images with a 14-year-old girl over social media from July 2024 to March 2025. Separately, Gresham Police Officer Hector Carranza was indicted by a Multnomah County grand jury on 56 felony counts, including rape, sodomy, sexual abuse, luring a minor, and using a child in sexually explicit conduct, involving the abuse of an underage girl between 2014 and 2017. Carranza's alleged crimes are unrelated to his police duties, and he was placed on administrative leave following a November 2024 complaint. Both men remain in custody, with Carranza held without bail and Stimka awaiting his initial court appearance in Utah. Authorities, including the FBI and state police, are leading investigations into both cases. Officials have emphasized accountability and impartiality in addressing these serious offenses.
