10-Year-Old Migrant Found Abandoned in Texas

On Thanksgiving Day, a 10-year-old boy from El Salvador was found abandoned at the U.S.-Mexico border in Maverick County, Texas, after being left by human smugglers. The child, carrying only a cell phone, was discovered sobbing and searching for his parents, who had already entered the U.S. He communicated his distress to Texas State Troopers in his native language, highlighting the dire situations faced by many migrant children. Texas Department of Public Safety Lieutenant Christopher Olivarez emphasized the tragic circumstances surrounding such cases, noting the dangers that unaccompanied minors face during their journey. This incident underscores a troubling trend, as over 529,000 migrant children have entered the U.S. under the Biden administration, with many becoming lost in the system. The boy has since been placed into the custody of U.S. Border Patrol for further assistance.
