Philadelphia Police Officer Jaime Roman, who was shot during a routine traffic stop in Kensington in June and succumbed to his injuries on September 10, will be laid to rest this week. Public viewings will be held on Wednesday, September 18, at Givnish Funeral Home and on Thursday, September 19, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. Roman's funeral service, reserved for family, friends, law enforcement, and dignitaries, will follow Thursday's viewing. Roman, a 31-year-old officer with nearly seven years of service, leaves behind his wife Jazmin Hernandez and two young children. Mayor Cherelle Parker and Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel have expressed their deep sorrow, with Bethel noting the profound personal loss. The suspected shooter, Ramon Rodriguez Vazquez, is expected to be charged with murder.
