Michelin-Recognized Folktable Closes in Sonoma

Folktable, a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant in Sonoma County led by Chef Casey Thompson, will close its doors on Sunday, marking the second closure of a Michelin-recognized establishment in the region this week, following Molti Amici in Healdsburg. Thompson announced the closure on social media, attributing it to circumstances beyond her control, while expressing gratitude for community support over the years. The restaurant has been significantly impacted by the controversial ownership of developer Ken Mattson, who is facing federal investigations and lawsuits for alleged investment fraud. Its location within the struggling Cornerstone Sonoma outdoor marketplace, which has seen declining foot traffic and high vacancies, has further compounded challenges. Folktable, which opened in December 2020, received Michelin recognition for four consecutive years before its impending closure. Thompson encouraged the community to support her staff, who are now seeking new employment opportunities as the restaurant closes ahead of the holiday season.
