McDowell, 21, was taken into custody on August 1 and booked into the Harris County Jail on a $400,000 bond. He also faces a separate theft charge related to a misdemeanor case from July 2023. The relationship between McDowell and Peralta remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing. McDowell's manager has called the situation unfortunate and has refrained from further comment.
