George Hartleroad, a fugitive wanted for 30 years, was arrested in West Des Moines, Iowa, after being stopped for not having a rear reflector on his bicycle. Hartleroad initially provided a fake name and social security number but eventually revealed his true identity. He had been on the run since escaping a halfway house in Wisconsin in 1995. Hartleroad, a convicted rapist from a 1983 case, had been living in Iowa since 1991. He is currently in custody of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections awaiting extradition. The arrest was captured on bodycam footage and shows officers' surprise at the length of time Hartleroad had been evading capture.
