Wienerschnitzel Plans Six Walmart Store Openings Across US In 2025
Wienerschnitzel is expanding its presence significantly through a new partnership with Walmart, planning to open six full-menu restaurants inside Walmart stores in locations including Reno, Nevada; Alamogordo, New Mexico; Bakersfield, California; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Puyallup, Washington; and Tempe, Arizona by autumn 2025. This strategic move marks a new era of growth for the brand, which currently operates around 340 franchised outlets across 13 states and is looking to broaden its footprint through non-traditional formats and high-traffic venues. Shak Turner, Wienerschnitzel's newly appointed director of franchise expansion, highlighted the brand's appeal to multi-brand franchisees and its unique concept that fills a market void, emphasizing plans to accelerate growth and new partnerships. The collaboration aims to leverage Walmart’s vast customer base to enhance in-store experiences by offering popular menu items such as chili cheese dogs, jalapeño poppers, chili cheese fries, and Tastee Freez soft serve desserts. This expansion aligns with broader retail trends of embedding quick-service restaurants inside large retail spaces to provide convenience and increase shopper engagement. Meanwhile, Wienerschnitzel has also recently returned to Western Nevada with a new standalone restaurant in Minden, complementing its Walmart expansion and reflecting its ongoing growth efforts.
