Colorado Man Charged in NJ Crash Killing Four Teens
Christopher L. Neff, 41, of Westminster, Colorado, has been charged in the Oct. 19 wrong‑way crash on the New Jersey Turnpike that killed four teenagers, facing counts including aggravated manslaughter, vehicular homicide/death by auto, and weapons offenses. Authorities say Neff drove north in the southbound lanes near milepost 1.3 in Carneys Point Township around 12:40 a.m., striking a southbound Mazda CX‑5 head‑on; a tractor‑trailer then struck the SUV and it caught fire. The four victims — Yaakov Kilberg, 19, and 18‑year‑olds Aharon Lebovits, Shlomo Cohen and Chaim Grossman — were pronounced dead at the scene; three were from Lakewood, N.J., and one from Fallsburg, N.Y. Police and court records say Neff showed signs of impairment and was seen drinking at a bar shortly before the crash, and officers found multiple illegal weapons, high‑capacity magazines, hollow‑point ammunition and psilocybin mushrooms in his pickup. Neff was hospitalized with serious injuries and remains in custody at a Delaware/New Jersey hospital as State Police and prosecutors continue investigating and consider additional charges.
