Durant Envisions Extension with Rockets
Kevin Durant, 37 and a 15-time All-Star entering his 19th NBA season, told reporters at Houston’s media day he envisions signing a contract extension with the Rockets but did not provide a timeline. He enters the final year of his current deal, which counts $54.7 million against the cap, and is eligible for a two‑year, roughly $122 million maximum extension. Durant was acquired in a blockbuster June trade with the Phoenix Suns that sent Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick and five second‑round selections to Phoenix. Coming off a season in which he averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists, Durant said the fit in Houston felt “organic” because of his familiarity with coach Ime Udoka. He joins a Rockets roster bolstered by additions such as Dorian Finney‑Smith and Clint Capela as the team positions itself to compete in the Western Conference.
