Penguins Re-sign Imama, Acquire Fernstrom in Trade
The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed forward Boko Imama to a one-year, $775,000 NHL contract through the 2025-26 season. Imama, 28, played 16 NHL games and 24 AHL games last season before biceps surgery in March and is expected to be ready for next season. The Penguins also signed 19-year-old Swedish forward Melvin Fernstrom to a three-year entry-level contract after acquiring him in a trade with Vancouver that included a conditional first-round pick and additional players. Fernstrom was named SHL Rookie of the Year after leading league rookies with 17 points and making a strong showing on Sweden's U-20 national team. Imama is valued for his energy and leadership, while Fernstrom is seen as a promising prospect. The Penguins continue to bolster their roster through strategic signings and trades.
