Giant Gas Field Found in Lincolnshire's Gainsborough Trough

Egdon Resources has discovered a massive gas field beneath Lincolnshire, known as the Gainsborough Trough, which could supply the UK's energy needs for up to a decade, significantly reducing import dependency and potentially contributing over £100 billion to the economy. The field contains approximately 480 billion cubic meters of recoverable gas, and development could create tens to hundreds of thousands of jobs. However, extraction would require fracking, a controversial method currently banned in the UK due to environmental concerns and small earthquake risks.
