Indiana quarterback Kurtis Rourke is recovering from a thumb injury sustained during a recent game against Nebraska, where he completed 17 of 21 passes for 189 yards, contributing to a decisive 56-7 victory. Following surgery on his right thumb, sources indicate he might return by November 2 for the game against Michigan State, although he is expected to miss the upcoming match against Washington. Coach Curt Cignetti emphasized that Rourke's injury, which involved detachment of the nail after hitting an opponent's helmet, is not believed to be serious. Backup quarterback Tayven Jackson performed admirably in Rourke's absence, throwing two touchdown passes in the second half.
