Kerala Forms SIT to Probe Malayalam Film Industry

The Kerala government has formed a seven-member special investigation team, led by IG Sparjan Kumar and including four senior women IPS officers, to probe allegations of harassment and abuse in the Malayalam film industry. This action follows the release of the 290-page Hema Committee report, revealing systemic exploitation and a 'mafia' of powerful men dominating the industry. Prominent figures such as director Ranjith Balakrishnan and actor Siddique have resigned amid the scandal. The report, delayed for nearly five years, details poor working conditions, lack of basic facilities, and widespread sexual harassment.
