Scottish film producer Paddy Higson dies aged 83

Paddy Higson, known as the 'mother of the Scottish film industry', has passed away at the age of 83 after a battle with cancer. Her children announced her death on social media, expressing their heartbreak while honoring her legacy as a generous and pioneering figure in film. Higson was renowned for her work on the 1981 classic 'Gregory's Girl' and contributed to several television series, including 'Taggart' and 'Monarch of the Glen'. In 2018, she received a BAFTA for her outstanding contribution to the Scottish film industry. Actor David Hayman praised her influential role, highlighting her mentorship and support for emerging talent. Despite retiring in 2022, she continued to impact the industry through her work with the Glasgow Media Access Centre (GMAC) and children's programming.
