World Vision Joins Global Alliance Against Hunger

Child hunger has reached unprecedented levels, with 35 million people on the brink of famine, driven by conflict, climate change, and soaring food prices. To combat this crisis, the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty will be launched at the G-20 Summit in Brazil, with key participation from World Vision and the FAO. The alliance aims to unify efforts of governments, banks, charities, and philanthropists to tackle hunger and poverty, as 281.6 million people faced hunger in 2023, a dramatic increase due to various global challenges. FAO's Director-General emphasized the need for a radical transformation in food production and consumption to address food loss, which amounts to $400 billion globally. The alliance will also support national policies focused on nutrition and financial assistance to vulnerable populations. This collaborative initiative underscores the urgent need to meet the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 and reverse rising inequalities in food access.
