The family was returning home from Six Flags and dinner when their Chevy Traverse was struck by a speeding red Dodge Charger driven by 20-year-old Jaime Mesa, who was allegedly street racing with a second driver. The collision occurred around 8:15 p.m. on August 10, causing the SUV to flip and catch fire, killing three family members instantly, with a fourth succumbing to injuries later at the hospital. Authorities have charged Mesa and the other driver, 22-year-old Anthony Morales, with multiple felonies, including manslaughter and racing on a highway. Witnesses reported seeing both cars racing and revving their engines prior to the crash.
