The Odisha Cabinet has approved a significant policy change to provide a 10% job reservation for ex-Agniveers in state uniformed services, including the Police, Fire, Excise, and Forest Departments. This initiative was announced during a meeting led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and aims to enhance job prospects for ex-military personnel who complete their service under the Agniveer scheme. In addition to the reservation, the Cabinet has granted a three-year age relaxation and exemption from the physical efficiency test for these candidates. The new rules, titled Odisha Ex-Agniveers (Recruitment to Uniform Services) Rules, 2024, will apply to Group 'C' and 'D' posts in direct recruitment, supplementing existing reservations for ex-servicemen. The Cabinet also made amendments to facilitate compassionate appointments for daughters of deceased government employees, regardless of marital status. These decisions reflect the government's commitment to support both veterans and the families of public servants.
