Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi has criticized Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Commissioner Ashwani Kumar for the deteriorating garbage disposal situation in the city, particularly in the West and Central Zones, where irregular collection has resulted in overflowing bins and health hazards for residents. In a letter, she accused officials of engaging in a blame game rather than addressing the issue and emphasized the need for immediate action against negligent staff. Oberoi has directed Kumar to ensure proper waste management and to accompany her on daily inspections from August 20 to September 2 across all 12 MCD zones. She stated that the MCD Commissioner will be held personally responsible for unsanitary conditions and urged that officers must engage with ground realities to improve cleanliness. The BJP has countered by attributing the situation to the ruling Aam Aadmi Party's mismanagement, suggesting that the Mayor's actions reflect political failures. The ongoing conflict highlights the critical need for effective waste management solutions in the capital.
