Congress Leaders Advised Against Overconfidence in Maharashtra

In response to a disappointing performance in the Haryana elections, Congress leaders in Maharashtra, led by Rahul Gandhi, have been urged to maintain modesty and unity ahead of the state assembly elections on November 20. The party is attempting to rectify internal factions and has warned its leaders against public disagreements, emphasizing the importance of collective strategy within the INDIA alliance. Seat-sharing negotiations among Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) have progressed, with 80% of the seats reportedly finalized. Despite the recent setback, the Congress remains optimistic due to its performance in the Lok Sabha elections, where it won 13 of the 30 seats contested by the INDIA bloc in Maharashtra. The party is seeking a larger share of seats, asserting its position as the leading opposition party in the state assembly. The leadership has instructed that decisions on ticket distribution and chief ministerial candidates should come from the central command rather than from state leaders.
