Competitive Overwatch 2 Season 15 Begins with Major Updates

Overwatch 2 is set to introduce new features for Competitive Play, including the return of rank icons and a 6v6 ranked queue starting in Season 15. Additionally, Blizzard announced a hero ban system will be implemented in Season 16, allowing players to target strong heroes, while a map voting system will debut in Season 17. Senior systems designer Gavin Winter emphasized that these updates aim to enhance player experience and strategy. In contrast, Call of Duty's recent update for Black Ops 6 and Warzone restricted three weapons from Ranked Play in response to competitive balance concerns, aiming to improve gameplay integrity. The PPSh-41, KSV, and Cypher 091 have been banned, while console players can now disable crossplay to reduce cheating incidents. Both games are actively evolving their competitive landscapes based on player feedback and game balance needs.
