Chavez Thompson Commits to Florida State Football

Chavez 'Sandman' Thompson, a three-star interior offensive lineman, has officially flipped his commitment from FIU to Florida State following a visit to Tallahassee, becoming the Seminoles' seventh addition along the offensive line for the 2025 recruiting class. Initially committed to FIU, Thompson was drawn to FSU due to his longstanding relationship with offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn and offensive line coach Herb Hand, who previously recruited him at UCF. Ranked as the No. 73 interior offensive lineman and No. 141 prospect in Florida, Thompson expressed his appreciation for the genuine staff at FSU and the emphasis on making him a priority. His commitment adds to a strong offensive line class that already includes four-star Mario Nash Jr. and three-star Sean Poret. Florida State has been actively rebuilding its offensive line after losing key players, and Thompson's addition reflects their ongoing efforts to enhance the unit. The Seminoles currently rank No. 18 nationally in their 2025 recruiting class with a total of 39 newcomers.
