Joseph Kosinski to Direct and Produce Miami Vice

Universal Pictures is developing a new 'Miami Vice' film adaptation, with Joseph Kosinski set to direct and produce and Dan Gilroy writing the script. The film draws inspiration from the iconic 1980s TV series created by Anthony Yerkovich and produced by Michael Mann, following Miami detectives Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs. Kosinski and Dylan Clark are attached as producers, and no casting decisions have been made. Production and release dates are yet to be determined as Kosinski is currently working on other projects, including the Brad Pitt racing film 'F1' and a UFO thriller for Apple. The 2006 film adaptation by Mann, initially met with mixed reviews and modest box office results, has since received some critical reassessment. This new movie aims to rejuvenate the franchise with a contemporary vision, leveraging Kosinski's and Gilroy's successful track records.
