Dehradun Clock Tower Restored After Theft

Dehradun's iconic Clock Tower, the Ghanta Ghar, has resumed operation after being silenced for two days due to cable tampering. Initially reported as a theft, police investigations revealed that three out of six Swiss clocks had their wires cut, suggesting an act of mischief rather than theft, as no valuables were taken. Officials stated that an insider may be responsible, given the lack of forced entry and presence of cut wires, while CCTV footage is under review. The Municipal Corporation has initiated repairs and installed new security cameras to prevent future incidents. This historic monument, inaugurated by Sarojini Naidu, holds significant cultural value for the city and has been subjected to similar attacks in recent years. The restoration of the clock is a priority for local officials, who aim to fully restore its functions soon.
