Hafnaoui Receives 21-Month Ban for Whereabouts Failures
Olympic 400-meter freestyle champion Ahmed Hafnaoui has received a 21-month suspension from the Aquatic Sports Integrity Unit due to three whereabouts failures within a 12-month period. The Tunisian swimmer's ban is effective until January 10, 2026, and all his results from April 11, 2024 onward have been disqualified. Hafnaoui made headlines by winning gold at the Tokyo Olympics and later claimed multiple medals at the 2023 World Championships. He was unable to compete in the Paris Olympics because of an undisclosed injury. Attempts to reach Africa Aquatics and the Tunisian Olympic Committee for comment have not been successful.
