Brian Tighe has been officially named the new Chief of Police for Norfolk, Nebraska, following a comprehensive selection process that made him the clear consensus choice among strong candidates. Tighe, who has served over 35 years with the Norfolk Police Department, had been acting chief for eight months, leading the department through a transition focused on recruitment, transparency, and community engagement. He replaces Don Miller, who retired after being placed on administrative leave amid investigations into allegations of an unfair work environment involving several high-ranking officers. Tighe's extensive experience includes roles as patrol lieutenant, sergeant, field training officer, and expertise in tactical response, communications, and jail operations.
