Tsuyo Manufacturing Raises $4.5M Pre-Series A to Expand EV Powertrain Facilities
Tsuyo Manufacturing, a New Delhi-based electric powertrain startup, has raised $4.5 million (INR 40 crore) in a Pre-Series A funding round led by Avaana Capital, a venture capital firm focused on deep-tech innovation. The company plans to use the funds to establish its third manufacturing plant, build a second research and development center, and expand export operations and collaborations with automakers in Southeast Asia, Japan, Korea, and Europe. Tsuyo designs and produces electric powertrain systems, including rare-earth-free and hybrid magnet-based motors, serving multiple vehicle types such as two-, three-, and four-wheelers, heavy commercial vehicles, and off-road applications. With over 150,000 powertrain units delivered and partnerships with major OEMs like Mahindra, Volvo Eicher, and Sonalika, Tsuyo aims to scale globally and achieve significant growth in the coming years. The new manufacturing facility will focus on high-wattage motors and include advanced testing and validation systems compliant with government standards. Tsuyo's CEO Vijay Kumar emphasized the company's mission to compete globally from India, while Avaana Capital's Vikas Verma highlighted Tsuyo's role in supporting India's energy transition and building resilient supply chains through indigenous innovation.
