Trossard Winner as Arteta Warns Gyökeres
Arsenal edged Fulham 1-0 thanks to Leandro Trossard’s 60th-minute goal. Viktor Gyökeres — a summer signing reported at about £63.5–64m who scored 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting CP — has three goals for Arsenal and is enduring a six-to-eight match goalless run for club and country. Mikel Arteta has privately warned Gyökeres that wearing Arsenal’s No.9 carries heavy expectations and that a striker must be able to cope with pressure during dry spells or consider moving on. Arteta and coaching staff praise Gyökeres’s off-the-ball work, physical presence and the space he creates for teammates, and say they are confident the goals will return despite critics’ and fans’ concerns about his adaptation to the Premier League. With Kai Havertz sidelined and captain Martin Ødegaard out injured, Arteta had been preparing Gyökeres to lead the line while stressing the club’s high standards.
