Kenosha-Led Federal Indictments Dismantle Multi-State Luxury Car Theft Ring
A three-year federal investigation led by the Kenosha County Drug Operations Group (KDOG) has resulted in the indictment of 23 individuals involved in a multimillion-dollar interstate luxury car theft and money laundering ring. The probe began in 2022 after a license plate found on a rural Kenosha County road was traced back to a stolen vehicle from Milwaukee. The suspects used advanced scanning and cloning tools to steal high-end vehicles from Milwaukee residences and Mitchell International Airport, then swapped VIN plates and radios before selling the cars at steep discounts across states including Florida, Georgia, and Nevada. Proceeds from the thefts were laundered through fake LLCs and real estate transactions. Authorities also uncovered related criminal activities, including drug trafficking and the possession of stolen firearms and credit card cloning devices. Kenosha County Sheriff David Zoerner praised the collaborative effort among local and federal agencies, highlighting the impact of the investigation in dismantling a sophisticated criminal enterprise.
