Sluggball Launches May 10 in Trenton, NJ

Kenny Lofton and Ruben Amaro Jr. have introduced Sluggball, a new baseball format aimed at reviving situational hitting, which is a largely neglected skill in today's power-focused game. Sluggball is a 4-on-4 competition designed to emphasize contact hitting without the physically demanding aspects of traditional baseball, such as fielding and running. Amaro and Lofton hope to rekindle former players' passion for the sport by offering competitions in minor league stadiums across New Jersey, New York, and Ohio. The concept is likened to Topgolf for baseball, providing a competitive yet fun environment for participants. The initiative is backed by several baseball-focused partners and the MLB Players Alumni Association, with Lofton and Amaro serving as advisors. Sluggball aims to attract former high school and college players, offering a new avenue for baseball enthusiasts to engage with the sport.
