Nintendo Switch 2 Sets U.S. and Global Sales Records

The Nintendo Switch 2 broke the U.S. launch sales record previously held by the PlayStation 4, selling 1.6 million units in June 2025 and becoming the fastest-selling console in the country. Globally, the Switch 2 sold 3.5 million units in its first four days, setting new records for Nintendo and outperforming past launches in Japan and Spain. The U.S. hardware market saw spending rise to a record $978 million for the month, with the Switch 2 Pro Controller and Mario Kart World driving strong accessory and software sales. Mario Kart World was bought by 82% of Switch 2 owners, making it June's top-selling game. Despite early concerns about pricing and hardware features, the Switch 2's robust game library, backward compatibility, and strategic bundles fueled demand. Nintendo now faces the challenge of sustaining momentum through ongoing software support and effective stock management.
