Seven hospitalized after carbon monoxide exposure in Brentwood
Six or seven people were hospitalized Thursday morning following a carbon monoxide poisoning incident at a multi-family home on American Boulevard in Brentwood, Long Island. Emergency responders arrived just after 7 a.m. and discovered high levels of carbon monoxide inside the residence, with two individuals found unconscious and all others evaluated and treated at local hospitals. The Brentwood Fire District identified an improperly functioning oil burner in the basement as the source of the carbon monoxide. Authorities have not yet clarified the severity of the victims' injuries or whether those affected belong to the same family. The Islip Town Fire Marshals Office has deemed the house unfit for occupancy until necessary repairs are completed. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and more details are expected to emerge.
