Samir Kumar Appointed Amazon India Country Manager

Amazon has appointed Samir Kumar, a 25-year veteran of the company, as the new country manager for its consumer business in India, effective October 1. This change follows the resignation of Manish Tiwary, who has opted to pursue opportunities outside the company after leading Amazon India since July 2020. Kumar, who helped launch Amazon India in 2013, will also maintain his current roles overseeing consumer businesses in the Middle East, South Africa, and Turkey. The existing leadership team in India will report to Kumar, while the senior vice president for Emerging Markets, Amit Agarwal, expressed optimism about India's significance for Amazon's future. The transition occurs as the festive season approaches, a crucial period for e-commerce sales in India. Agarwal commended Tiwary's contributions to Amazon India, highlighting the company's commitment to its operations in the country.
