Gonzales Poll Shows 61% Approval for Governor Moore
A recent Gonzales Research and Media Service poll indicates that 61% of Maryland voters approve of Governor Wes Moore's performance, with 28% disapproving. Support is particularly strong among Democrats (79%) and Black voters (75%), while only 33% of Republicans express approval. If a rematch were to occur, 52% of voters would choose Moore over former Governor Larry Hogan, who garners 38% support. However, concerns about taxes remain prevalent, as 76% of respondents oppose raising state income taxes to address the budget deficit, with just 17% in favor of such an increase. The poll, conducted from December 27 to January 4, included 811 registered voters and has a margin of error of 3.5%. As the Maryland General Assembly prepares for its upcoming session, lawmakers will need to address the budget deficit amidst these approval ratings.
