Lorena Wiebes claimed victory in Stage 3 of the Giro d’Italia Women, which was marked by a significant crash near the finish that disrupted the peloton. The 122-km stage from Vezza d’Oglio to Trento included an early climb but was largely downhill or flat before rain caused slippery conditions and a crash with about 2.5 to 3 kilometers remaining. Wiebes, racing for Team SD Worx-Protime, was ahead of the crash and sprinted to win from a reduced group, with Josie Nelson and Lotte Kopecky finishing second and third respectively.
