Ford Recalls Nearly 1.5 Million Vehicles Over Rearview Camera Crash Risk
In 2025, Ford has issued a significant recall affecting nearly 1.5 million vehicles due to rearview camera malfunctions that can display blank, distorted, or inverted images, potentially impairing drivers' view and increasing crash risk. The recall covers various 2015-2019 models including the Lincoln MKC and Navigator, Mustang, F-Series Super Duty trucks, Expedition, Edge, Transit, Econoline, and Ranger across the US, Canada, and other markets. This recall follows several others issued by Ford this year involving brake fluid leaks, instrument panel issues, tail lights, airbags, and fuel pump failures, contributing to a record 110 recalls in 2025, the highest ever by any automaker in a single year. The problem stems from a supplier-side quality control issue with incorrectly printed circuit boards used in the cameras. Ford is offering free inspections and camera replacements through dealers, along with mobile and pickup services for affected customers. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has reported 18 accidents related to the camera issue but no injuries, and vehicle owners are being notified by mail to seek repairs.
