British Army Trials 'Game-Changing' Drone Defense Weapon

The British Army has successfully trialed a 'game-changing' Radio Frequency Directed Energy Weapon (RFDEW), which can neutralize a swarm of drones using radio waves. This innovative weapon, capable of targeting threats up to a kilometer away, offers a cost-effective solution at just 10p per shot compared to traditional missile-based systems. Developed by a UK consortium, including Thales UK, the RFDEW disrupts the electronic components of unmanned vehicles, causing them to be immobilized or fall from the sky. The trial comes amid increased drone sightings in the UK and US, although authorities have found no evidence of a national security threat. Defence Minister Maria Eagle highlighted the weapon's potential in countering low-cost drone threats, like those seen in Ukraine and the Red Sea.
