Sunny Hostin Recovers from Live Allergic Reaction
Sunny Hostin, co-host of The View, suffered a life-threatening allergic reaction on live television after unknowingly eating a dish containing walnuts, prepared by former co-host Debbie Matenopoulos to promote her Greek cookbook. Hostin, who has a severe tree nut allergy, realized the dish's ingredients after Alyssa Farah Griffin asked about them. Unable to speak, Hostin wrote a note to Griffin to signal her distress, which led to immediate intervention by the show's executive producer and on-site Disney medical staff. Nurses promptly administered Benadryl and prepared an EpiPen, which ultimately was not needed, allowing Hostin to recover from the reaction. The co-hosts later expressed relief and gratitude for the medical team's quick response. The incident underscored the unpredictability of live television and the importance of emergency preparedness.
