FIFA Pledges $11M for 2025 Club World Cup

FIFA has announced a $1 million donation to each of the U.S. cities hosting the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, including New York/New Jersey, as part of an $11 million investment to support community-focused sports programs. This initiative aims to build soccer facilities and promote grassroots soccer activities, particularly in areas lacking sufficient infrastructure. FIFA President Gianni Infantino emphasized the organization's social responsibility and the desire to leave a lasting legacy in North America through these contributions. The MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, will host the final match of the 2025 Club World Cup, setting the stage for both this tournament and the FIFA World Cup 2026. These events are projected to generate substantial economic impacts, including $47 billion in economic activity and the creation of 290,000 jobs in the U.S. over the next two summers. Efforts are also underway to establish FIFA Foundation USA to oversee the distribution of these funds.
