Netflix's Quasimodo Film to Begin Production This Summer

Netflix has greenlit a French feature film titled 'Quasimodo,' starring Vincent Cassel as the historical figure believed to have inspired Victor Hugo's famous character from 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame.' The film, directed by Jean-Francois Richet and written by Eric Besnard, will begin production this summer in France. Set in Paris on the eve of the 1830 July Revolution, the story depicts Quasimodo's struggles amid a cholera epidemic, political unrest, and unrequited love. The adaptation emphasizes a historically grounded approach, setting it apart from previous versions such as Disney's 1996 animated film. The project marks a reunion for Cassel and Richet, who previously worked together on the 'Mesrine' films. It is produced by Clément Miserez and Matthieu Warter of Radar Films.
