Man jailed for nine months for voyeurism in Ripon, Harrogate

Joel Humberstone, 27, has been sentenced to nine months in jail for taking inappropriate photographs up the skirts of two girls—an 11-year-old in Ripon and a 17-year-old in Harrogate—while on his way to court for the first incident. The first crime occurred on June 7, 2024, and was witnessed by two builders who helped in his apprehension after he fled. Despite initially pleading guilty to voyeurism, Humberstone committed the same act again shortly before a scheduled court appearance. The second victim bravely confronted him, recording the incident on her phone, which provided vital evidence for the case. Humberstone has also been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years. Authorities praised the quick actions of the witnesses and the courage of the victims in ensuring accountability.
