Poll Reveals Low Trust in FDA, CDC Among Americans

Multiple recent polls show that less than half of Americans trust federal health agencies such as the FDA and CDC to effectively manage essential tasks, including ensuring the safety of vaccines and prescription drugs and responding to infectious disease outbreaks. Confidence in these agencies acting independently, without outside interference, is particularly low, at just 32%. Although overall trust levels have remained mostly unchanged since 2023, there has been a significant partisan shift, with trust among Democrats declining and trust among Republicans rising. About 60% of Americans believe the FDA and CDC can provide accurate vaccine information, but overall confidence remains low, highlighting a potential vulnerability if another pandemic arises. Experts warn that this erosion of trust, shaped by partisan perspectives, could pose risks to public health responses in the future.
