Body of Laura Hughes Found in New Jersey

Laura Hughes, a 50-year-old mother of two, was found dead inside a refrigerator in Belleplain State Forest, New Jersey, on December 22, 2024, five months after her boyfriend, Christopher Blevins, allegedly fled to Mexico. Blevins, 45, is the primary suspect, having reportedly dumped Hughes' body on July 24 and crossed the border into Mexico on August 2. He was captured on surveillance transporting a 'refrigerator-shaped object' shortly before his departure and later surrendered to Mexican authorities, claiming he panicked after a 'violent incident' in New Jersey. Despite being charged with disturbing human remains and hindering apprehension, Blevins remains at large, with police still searching for him. The investigation into Hughes' cause of death continues, and no murder charges have been filed against Blevins. John Tyrrell, who discovered Hughes' body, was arrested for obstruction after refusing to provide his cell phone to police.
