Wizz Air Launches Budget Gatwick-Jeddah Route

Wizz Air is launching a new budget route from Gatwick to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, starting March 31, 2025, using the cost-efficient Airbus A321XLR aircraft. The tickets for this seven-hour flight start at £134.99, aiming to provide affordable travel options. This move highlights Wizz Air's strategy to expand its global reach and compete with premium airlines by offering low-cost fares. The route marks Wizz Air's longest journey from the UK and underscores its strategic growth since establishing its Gatwick base in 2020. Despite the low cost, passengers will have to endure non-reclining seats for the approximately seven-hour overnight flights. Wizz Air CEO Jozsef Varadi emphasized the economic benefits and the potential for further expansion with this new aircraft.
