Primary Wave Acquires Fleetwood Mac Founder Peter Green Catalog

Primary Wave Music has acquired the publishing rights and certain recordings of Peter Green, the founder and original lead guitarist of Fleetwood Mac, through a deal with his estate. The acquisition includes Green’s Rattlesnake music publishing catalog and his interest in all compositions written by him, featuring iconic Fleetwood Mac songs such as "Albatross," "Black Magic Woman," and "Oh Well." Green, who was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and ranked among the greatest guitarists by Rolling Stone, was instrumental in defining the band's early blues rock sound before departing in 1970 due to mental health struggles. This deal follows Primary Wave's earlier acquisition of a majority stake in Stevie Nicks' publishing catalog and reflects the company's expanding portfolio of legendary music rights. Primary Wave’s Robin Godfrey-Cass praised Green as a musical genius and expressed excitement to continue his legacy. Green’s work remains influential, with covers like Santana’s version of "Black Magic Woman" achieving enduring success.
