Rise in U.S. School Threats Raises Safety Concerns

There has been a disturbing rise in school threats across the United States, leading to increased police presence and serious charges against students. In Texas, a 13-year-old from Lynn Lucas Middle School was charged with making terroristic threats via Snapchat against multiple schools in Willis ISD. Similarly, a 15-year-old in North Carolina was expelled and faces juvenile charges for threats against Monroe High School, prompting increased patrols. In Georgia, a 13-year-old girl was charged with terroristic threats and other offenses after threatening two middle schools via Instagram. Other schools, including those in Holyoke, Massachusetts, and Baldwin High in Maui, Hawaii, have also seen heightened police presence following threats, though some threats, like one in Belleville, NJ, were deemed not credible. Authorities emphasize the seriousness of these threats and the importance of maintaining school safety.
